One issue, though, is that the ...Brilliant stuff. One issue, though, is that the riders don't necessarily target a fade, but are instead targeting a uniform pace at a pace they can't likely sustain. Since the goal is to win, it makes sense to be a bit optimistic about what you can do, since targeting what you can likely do is going to simply lock in a loss unless you're substantially above-average, which few are. People know what pace it will take to podium or win and target that pace, because if they can't podium or win then they don't care much about their placing.
